In addition to drawing inspiration from folk culture, she feels the desire to give something back to our ancestors. She regularly launches various projects and support initiatives aimed at helping where it is needed. She uses her influence and, through her work, draws attention to important issues where she sees the possibility to bring change. In her creations, beauty is combined with a message of responsibility – it is not only about jewelry, but also about what they can symbolize and how they can contribute to a better world.
Petra is originally from Bratislava, and around 2007 she decided to fully dedicate herself to creating inspired by folk motifs and symbols. Since then, she has traveled across Slovakia collecting ideas from traditional costumes, folk furniture, home textiles, wall paintings, and ceramics, which she transforms into modern yet timeless jewelry.
Petra approaches art differently than other artists. “We make jewelry that may be inspired by folk patterns, but their true story is only written when the women who wear them bring them to life.” Her goal is to create jewelry that is wearable in everyday life while also carrying the legacy of Slovak cultural heritage.
“A person without respect for tradition is like a tree without roots; the slightest pressure can easily tear it from its essence.”
